Paterson, federal secretary ol the Automobile Association of Australia, during an informal report on his observations in New Zealand to a meeting of the North Island Motor Union in Wellington yesterday. He said the safety record could not be entirely attributed to safe road surfaces because Australia was better served in that way. He thought the reason why New Zealand had the lowest road death rate in the world and Australia (he second highest, was due to the road safety campaign, of which he could not speak too highly, also the warrants of fitness system and traffic control.
