Bright Display BLENHEIM OUTCLASSES COAST Although the Marlborough l<’nm outclassed the West. Coast, boys in n boxing tourney held at Greymotil It Town Hall on Saturday evening, a large percentage of the bouts were evenly contested, and' provided keen entertainment for the good crowd present. The bouts were ot a high standard and gave a line on the selection of the team to compete at Auckland for the New Zealand championships next month. The following arc the results of the bouts: — J. Morrisey (5.11), defeated C. Richahrdson (5.9) on points. Morrisey forced the tight most of the journey, and had Richardson in trouble witli heavy punches, but, Richardson showed gamcness in keeping pace with him. J. Conaghan (-Ist-) beat P. Scanlon (3.11) on points. Conaghan. also forced the tight most ol the way, but the lighter boy displayed clean punching together with a good guard' which Conaghan had difficulty in breaking through. G. Timms, of Marlborough (12st), won fiy a t.k.o. from 11. McClymont (11.5), in tile first round. McClymont had the better of the light in the first round, but a bad cut. over his eye forced him to retire. E, Robertson, Marlborough (5.4), won by a t.k.o. from B. Bowden (5.3) in the first round. He showed' more experience and had Bowden in trouble witli several lefts to the face and body. D. Elkington of Marlborough (6st) beat M’. McGeedy (6st) on points in a fast and willing bout. The Marlborough boy appeared to have more experience behind him and gave one of the best displays of the evening. F, Thompson, (6.11), defeated L. Green, of Marlborough (5.5), on points. The Greymouth boy carried the fight most of the way, and used his longer reach to advantage. Green gave a good display of defensive work. S. Gladstone (8.4) beat K. Wilson, of Marlborough (8.4), on points in a fast and willing contest. Gladstone scored most of his points on the inflighting and dealt out heavy punishment to Wilson on the ropes. Both boys punched accurately, the Cpast boy being the more deadly. J. McDonald, Marlborough (10.4), won by a t.k.o. from T. Dillion, (9.13) who substituted for M. Tuck, in the first round. He was floored in the second' round, after displaying a sound knowledge of ringcraft while his condition lasted. J. Beattie, Marlborough (8.2> beat J. Finlay (8.12) by a. t.k.o. in the first round. Finlay had the better of the fight, but fell at the end of the round and injured his knee. N. Parkyn, (Bst), defeated C. Bowden (7.7), on points. Bowden showed gameness in conceding height and weight, and took his punishment like a man.

T. Mills, Marlborough (8.7) defeated T. Brennan, on points in a fast and willing bout. Both boys scored with accurate punches to the head and body, but Mills got the better of a brisk exchange in the last round to get a narrow verdict. J. Porter (S.l2),.drew with B. Eder (8.12) on points in one of the best bouts of the evening. Eder was dropped for the count of seven in the second round by a heavy right after a perior of in-lighting on the ropes Eder, however, got the better of some brisk exchanges in the last round to get a lucky draw. In the main bout of the evening of six two minute rounds, J. Boddy (9.3), beat K. Leeston, of Marlborugh, (9st.), on points. Eoddy had the better of exchanges in. the first two rounds, but Leeston carried the fight until round four, when bot contestants settled down a a hardfought tussle. Although Boddy appeared to be carrying the fight, Leeston was not to be denied his chances and retaliated with some telling blows, several of which had Boddy on his heels. Towards the close of the last round the Coast boy dealt out some heavy lefts to Leeston’s faceand body, who when the gong sounded appeared to have had' eriough. Patrick Knocks Miller SANDS OUTS JOHNSON (Rec. 7.5) SYDNei, Aug. 25. Two boxing titles were decided by knock-outs last night. At West Melbourne, Vic Patrick (9.53) had little difficulty against Eddie Miller (9.44) and his Australian lightweight title was never in danger. Though Patrick said afterwards that Miller was a better boxer than Burns, Patrick was much too strong and crafty for his opponent. It took him three or four rounds to size up Miller. He dropped him to his knees in the fifth round, and the end came in the following round, after Miller had already been down for a count of nine. At Sydney Stadium Dave Sands (11.8.1) knocked out Jack Johnson (12.2 J in-the fourth round to add the Australian light-heavy title to the middleweight which he holds. Sands outclassed Johnson with a crouching, two-handed attack, which gave the champion no chance.
