END ONE-PARTY RULE!

AND DICTATORSHIPS U.S.A. LABOUR FEDERATION’S PROPOSAL NEW YORK, August 11. The American Federation of Labour, representing seven millions of trade unionists who are independent of the W.F.T.U., has proposed an international bill of rights calling for the abolition of dictatorships, and of the one-party electors! system, and for gradual, systematic disarmament by all nations. The document has been submitted to the Secretary of State (Mr Byrnes), with a request that it should be included in the peace treaties. The document has also been sent to the United Nations with a suggestion that it be brought before the meeting of the Economic and Social Council in September. The proposal asserts the rights of political, trade union, religious, economic and educational organisations without Government or other control, and asks every nation to guarantee to the individual the right of political asylum, the right to leave a country at will, subject only to the immigration laws of the country of destination, and the right of individual freedom of opinion and expression.
