FOUR N.Z. GIRLS

TO JOIN Y.W.C.A. TEAM IN JAPAN. P.A. - WELLINGTON, May 16. A call to it for a Welfare Services Staff to do welfare work for women personnel of the occupying forces in Japan has been met by the Y.W.C.A. of New Zealand. Following a cable from Miss' Jean Begg asking for staff, and stressing the urgent need that existed, a team of four additional workers to help advance the Y.W.C.A. team already there lias now been selected and is on the point of departure.

The Y.W.C.A. of New Zealand' announces the following appointments to the team:—

Miss Audrey Kemp, at present Matron of the Christchurch Y.W.C.A.. and formerly in charge of the W.A.F. Hostel in Molesworth Street, Wellington. Miss Kemp was trained for Karitane nursing. Miss Molly Gilmour, who is on the staff of the Downtown Club of the Auckland Y.W.C.A., and who throughout. the war period served on the Canteen Board and organised mobile canteen work for the armed forces, and a cafeteria dry canteen at combined headquarters in Auckland. Miss Jessie Earle, of Hamilton, who has been associated with the Y.W.C.A. as a club leader for manyyears. Miss Constance (Billie) Juris, of Wellington, . who has had specialist training as a school dental nurse in addition to many war service interests in connection with the entertainment of forces.

In addition, the Y.W.C.A. of New Zealand is dispatching Miss Keitha Weir, of Lower Hutt, to join Jean Begg’s staff in India.
