Cardinal Griffin, Catholic Archbishop of Westminster and Primate of England, at a press conference in Chicago, referred to Communism. He described the “Red” Dean of Canterbury (Very Rev. Hewlett Johnson) as a pest. He said that neither Dean Johnson nor the Archbishop of York represented the attitude of the Anglican Church towards Communism. Cardinal Griffin added that the Catholics' .in many countries, including Ruthenia and Yugoslavia, as well as Russia, were being persecuted for their religion.
