FIJI PLANE CRASH
U.S. SERVICEMEN DROWNED. (Rec. 6.30.) SUVA, February 14. Three lives were lost when a United States Mitchell Bomber crashed into the sea near Vatia Point, Viti Levu, Fiji, on Tuesday. The aircraft was on its way to Fiji from Noumea (New Caledonia), and the men killed were United States service personnel. Wrecked and submerged, the ’plane was found yesterday. One body, that of Lieutenant Colonel Hillis, was recovered, and brought to Suva for burial at the American Military Cemetery. The •other bodies have not yet been recovered or identified. American authorities in Suva state no further information is available..
