KARAMEA TRACK

ROUTE TO BE FLAGGED. NELSON, January 31. Calls for. search parties to find trampers lost between the Wangapeka Valley and Karamea have been so frequent in recent years that Mr. C. F. Boyd, who resides at Tui, only a few miles from Wangapeka, has decided to flag the route. The 1929 earthquake gave the back country between Nelson and the West Coast a heavy shaking and caused many large slips, which obliberated the original track for quite long distances, making the route unsafe for any but the most experienced trampers. Mr. Boyd, who has a thorough knowledge of this area, intends to spend six weeks on flagging and opening up the track to make it safer, and while there he will prepare a description of the route, and plot it out as a four-day trip for reasonably good walkers. Inquiries come to Nelson from all parts of the Dominion for information about the route, and the work which Mr. Boyd is undertaking will earn the appreciation of many trampers.
