STRIKE CONTROL BILL

Draslic U.S.A. Proposals (Rec. 9.50). WASHINGTON, Jan. 30. A strike control bill far more sweeping than President Truman has 1 asked for, has been approved by the House of Representatives Rules Committee, and been sent to the House for action. This was done amid bitter protests from union supporters. The bill would outlaw the violent picketing. It would provide for civil suits being undertaken against the violators of labour contracts. It also would deprive Foremen’s Unions of any status, and lay unions open to injunctions. The bill would create a Labour Management Board to help to settle disputes, and proposes that five days’ notice of any ,strikes or any lock-outs would have to be given to the Board.
