SMUGGLING OVER SWISS BORDER (Rec. 6.30). BERNE, January 29. It has been officially announced that the Swiss Government is to send regular army troops to the SwissItalian border to reinforce guards there who are battling against bands of Italian armed smugglers. The smugglers specialise in bringing sugar and rice into Switzerland, where these foods are rationed, and exchanging them .for coffee and tobacco, which are sold on the Italian black market for fantastic prices.
GREEKS AND ALBANIANS LONDON Jam 28. Moscow radio, quoting an Albanian communique, said that the Albanian Government had discovered a plot of Fascist terrorists, known as the Albanian Union, to overthrow the Government and assassinate the leaders. The police arrested the ringleaders and carried out widespread arrests in Tirana, Scutari and oth'.er towns. The communique alleged that the arrested persons were in contact with Albanians in Greece,who were provoking disorders.
