U.S.A. ATTITUDE (Rec. 11.30) WASHINGTON, Jan. 30. Mr'J. F. Byrne, Secretary of State said: The United States Army will continue to administer its zone in Germany until a small civilian group supported by the army forces deemed necessary can take over control. Mr Byrne said Genera] Eisenhower and Mr Patterson has approved this plan with some reluctance. President Truman had endorsed it. General Eisenhower had proposed, when Allied Commander in Germany, that the Army should give up its administration on January 30. Mr Byrnes said he hoped that centralised Allied administration in Germany could be established soon. A plan had been approved by Britain, America and Russia but had been blocked by France.
