SOCIAL SECURITY CONTRIBUTION AND NATIONAL SECURITY TAX. February Instalment: The fourth quarterly instalment of the charge of 2/6 in the £ on income other than salary or wages derived during the year ended 31st March, 1945, is due on first February and must be paid within one month to avoid the 10 per cent, penalty for late payment. Companies and other corporate bodies are required to pay the full year’s charge within one month from the 7th February, 1946. Wages Tax: All employers of labour are notified that severe penalties are provided for failure to deduct and account for wages-tax (2/6 in the £) in respect of all wages paid to permanent or casual employees, whether on a time, piece work or contract basis. Registration Fee: As from Ist April, 1946, the Registration Fee will be abolished, the” final instalment payable being:—• (a) Male persons who were 20 years of age before Ist May, 1945 — Final instalment due Ist February, 1946. (b) -Females, 16 years of age or ■ over and youths 16 to 20 years of age inclusive. —Final instalment due Ist May, 1945. All male persons, who were ..20 : years of age before Ist May, 1945, who are not exempt, are therefore I required to pay the usual quarterly instalment of 5/- within one month from Ist February, 1946. Those en- j titled to exemption must complete the exemption application form within 7 days after the last day for pay- ' ment. Employers are reminded of their obligation to check the Registration Fee coupon-books of employees * to ensure that all due instalments have been paid. Severe penalties are provided in cases where an employer re- i tains in his employ any person who is in arrears for one month or more in payment of an instalment of the ' Registration Fee.
