AUCKLAND CONCLUDES. BIG RACE TO COWPER. F.A. AUCKLAND, January 24. Auckland Racing Club’s meeting concluded to-day in fine weather, with an attendance of 19,500. The track was fast. The totalisator took £170,725?-, against £151,8001 last Anniversary Day. The total for the meeting was £299,4441. As a result of an inquiry into the falling of Golden Pay .in the Ferry Handicap on the first day, M. LEGER STAKES. F.A. WELLINGTON, January 29. Wellington Racing Club has reinstated the New Zealand St. Leger Stakes on the programme for its autumn meeting, to be held at Trentham in March. This three-year-old classic was abandoned after 1942 as the result of war-time restrictions on racing. This year’s race carries a stake of £1250. and the entries for the three-year-olds will close at the same time as the nominations for all other events at the meeting.’
