MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS

Mu L. Hunter presided at the weekly meeting of the Management Committee, of the West Coast Rugby League, held last evening when the following were present: Messrs J. Anisy, W Meates, C. Stone-. P. Sw-eet-ma.n, J. Oakley, J. Griffen, N. Mes- . seriger and T. F. McKenzie (secret31A motion of sympathy with the . relatives of the late Mr. A. Meadowcroft was carried by members standing in silence. Messrs C. Stone, J. Oakley, and 1. McKenzie were appointed ■ a special ground committee and they are to report back to the next meeting ot the League. . , T . The Canterbury Rugby League tor- ■ warded a statement in connection with the representative match played recently and enclosed a cheque for ; the West Coast share. Members ex- . pressed gratification at the splendid - gate received which, they said, augured well for the future of the code in Canterbury. The request of the Addington Club for its senior and junior teams to play matches on the West Coast during the week end was d'eclined andthe Club is to be asked to apply for a later date. . The secretary of the Otahunu club wrote confirming all arrangements for their visit and thanked the League for its co-operation in arranging the matches. The Schoolboy Control board, Auckland Rugby League, wrote expressing appreciation of the arrange- . ments made in connection with the recent schoolboy tournament and extended thanks to all who had billeted the boys. The letter went'on to say that the trip had been an outstanding success. The Kumara Club’s request for registration of its colours, blue jersey with white V’s, was granted'. The secretary, Mr. T. F. McKen- . zie, was appointed to represent the League at the official welcome to the Otahuhu - team, which is to be given at the Trotting Pavilion this evening. It was decided to hold an . official dinner on Sunday evening ■ when the Management Committee . will meet the Otahuhu visitors and ; the Runanga team is to be invited to , be present. ' , . Votes of thanks, were accorded • Mrs. Bradshaw, Messrs Mu O’Connell and P. Sweetman, for their assistance in arranging catering for the visiting < teams last week. . Gatekeepers were appointed J Ol Sunday as follows: Messrs J. Anisy, C. Morel, J. Winstanley, ana W. Meates. Mr. P. Sweetman was appointed local manager for the Otahuhu team. Best wishes were extended to Mr. J. Oakley, manager of , the South side to play i;n Auckland, ? The secretary stated that the team would leave for Auckland by the , railcar on Saturday evening, as ait ; members of the. Blackball club were i participating in the match against Otahuhu in the afternoon. It was also reported that the Runanga • Club were arranging for their two , members of the South side to play > on Sunday and they wero then to be .. transferred to Wellington by p*ane.
