MILLERTON NOTES

(Our Own Correspondent) Private Tony Graham was tendered a welcome home by the Patriotic Committee on his return from the Middle East, there being a large gathering. The usual presentation was made by Mr. J. Orman, for the Committee, and the guest made an appropriate acknowledgement. £' o1 ’ dancing the music was supplied by Miss P. Orman, Mrs. R. Swan and Mr. W. Fox. Miss E. Douglas has left lor Christchurch after visiting Mr. and Mrs. J. McKinlay. Mrs. McLean of Greymouth, is here visiting Mr. and Mrs. T. Pollock. Mrs. Green of Wellington, is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Madison.

Last week-end the local senior footballers were beaten by 7 points to 3 by Ngakawau on the latter’s ground. The Bowling Club at its annual meeting elected officers as follows: Patron, Hon. W. H. Mclntyre; President, W. Boswell; Vice-President, C. Orman; Secretary, G. Flannigan; Treasurer, J. Douglas; Committee, Messrs F. Riddell, J. Orman, F. Fox, F. Peart, and T. Jackson; Match Committee, F. Peart, F'. Fox and T. Jackson; Auditors, C. Orman and F. Peart; Ground Committee, T. White, J. Douglas and F. Riddell.
