Mr. A. F. Clark who hasa been released from the R.N.Z.A.F. will recommence duties as a porter at the Railways Department, on Monday.

Mr. B. F. Connors, "pay clerk, Mines Department. Dunollie, has been transferred temporarily to the Stockton Mine office, at Ngakawau.

Rev. P. L. A. Crampton, Youth Director of the Baptist Union of New Zealand, arrived yesterday from Nelson. He will be the guest of Rev. and Mrs. T. R. Page.

Mr. J. H. Doyle who has been a prisoner of war, and was employed at the Chief Post Office, Greymouth, before going overseas, is visiting Greymouth.

The report of Mr Churchill’s intention to spend several months in Australia and Now Zealand is stated in London by the headquarters of the Conservative Party to be pure speculation, it being stated he is now on a holiday, and before going he decided nothing as to a visit to the Dominions.

His Lordship, Bishop P. F. Lyons, arrived yesterday from Christchurch accompanied by Rev. Miss Marie Wood’ of Cobden returned yesterday Trim England. Miss Wood left New Zealand on May 1 of this year on the “Esperance Bay” acting as escort to women and children from New Zealand travelling to the Middle East. En route evacuees from Singapore, Malaya, Thailand, and Siam were picked up at Fremantle in Western Australia and taken to England. While in the Old Country, Miss Wood visited her sister Mrs. T. Anderson and relatives in the north of England. On the voyage home she visited her sister, Sister Mary Anna, who is a member of the Community of the Little Company of Mary, Lewisham, Sydney. Miss Wood who arrived at Auckland on Monday on the “S.S. Akaroa” acted as escort to New Zealand servicemen’s wives and children coming to New Zealand.
