New Zealand may arrange to conduct whaling operations in Hoss Sea. The Minister of Manne, Hon. J. O’Brien, yesterday in Parliament, in reply to a question by Mr T. McCombs (Govt., Lyttelton) stated that action has already been taken by way of inquiry as to the possibility of arranging for a factory ship to operate on behalf of New Zealand in the Ross Sea sector of the Antarctic. Mr McCombs had asked whether, in view of the fact that the Ross Sea sector of the Antarctic is administered by New Zealand, the Government will endeavour to arrange for a New Zealand-owned whaling factory to operate in that area. Mr McCombs said that this was an opportune time to establish this enterprise, because of limitation of the whaling factories was under consideration, and New Zealand’s rights to one unit should be asked for.—P.A. Seeing is believing, therefore you must see the beautiful daffodils for yourself at the Town Hall to-day (Thursday) and to-morrow (Friday). You won’t be disappointed.—Advt.
