DOUBLE MURDER CHARGE Several Men Shot ONE'S NOSE BITTEN OFF (Rec. 8.10) SYDNEY, Sept 18. A double murder was charged against Arthur Joseph O’Keefe, aged 22, a wharf labourer, who was arrested to-day following the affray in the. house at Paddington in which two men were shot dead and three wounded as earlier cabled. O Keele also was charged on two counts o, shooting with intent to murder. Those fatally shot were: James Francis O’Connor, aged 30, a labourer; and Ronald Paton, alias Ronald Connors, aged 27, a labourer. Iwo of those wounded are in a serious condition. The other wounded man has been allowed to leave hospital. All of the men are known to the police. The police described the shooting as a sequel to a three days feud. The police have been told that the shooting occurred during a brawl, in which O’Keefe was knocked to the floor, and a portion of his nose bitten off. O’Keefe appeared in the court with his face heavily bandaged. „ J , , , Ronald Paton (one or the dead men) had recently completed a long goal term, which was given to him for biting off part of a man’s nose. The report cabled this morning that two men had been shot outside of a picture theatre is not true.
