ROSS NOTES
[Our Own Correspondent] Mrs. Peebles presided over a good attendance at a meeting of the Ross Women’s Institute. Arrangements were made for the Birthday Party next month. Members completed tne making of clothing for Europe, and it is to be forwarded at the end of the month. The president welcomed Mrs Burrell and Mrs. Dukes, who kindly consented to judge competitions. These resulted as follows: Best Plain Scones: Mrs. Buchanan 1; Mrs. Ross Jones 2. Best Bloom: Mrs. Ross Jones 1; Mrs. Allen Thompson. 2. Mrs. Gough won the Wandering Shilling, donated by Mrs. Andrew Thompson. Mrs. Head ably demonstrated smocking (honeycomb and fancy). Supper was served by tne hostesses, Mesdames Gaines and Ross Jones. The meeting closed with tne National Anthem.
