WESTPORT, June 26. The P’akura, loading for Wellington is awaiting‘ for the sea on the bar to moderate. The Omana, after unloading general cargo from Auckland, commenced’ loading coal for Auckland, and is expected to sail tonight. The Titoki loaded coal to-day for Ficton. The Wingatui is expected to-day from Wellington to load coal for that port. .. Mr and M’rs L. Vinsen returned to Christchurch yesterday after visiting relatives here. Mi- and Mrs Burchfield and Miss G. Burchfield left to-day on return to Christchurch. Mr F. Snow, Karamea, left yesterday for Wellington. Messrs W. and A. Parry are spending a holiday at Christchurch. Mr M. Delaney left yesterday for Wellington. Mr J. H. Powell left to-day for Waiho to attend a meeting of No. 12 Highway Board. Mr H. F. Bucknell has been transferred to the Hutt workshops as apprentice fitter and will take up his duties at an early date. Mr V. Goodall has been nominated by the Buller Rugby Union as a selector for the South Island Loam, and has been appointed manager of the Buller team to play West Coast on Saturday at Greymouth, for which Mr R. Pender has been appointed referee under the new agreement. The death occurred yesterday of Mrs Agnes M. Parker, wife of Mr Alexander Parker, Roebuck Street, a°-ed 72 years. The late Mrs Parker was born in Fifeshire, Scotland, came to New Zealand 25 years ago, and had resided in the district for that period. Besides her husband she is survived’ by three sons, Joseph (Auckland), William and Alexander (Christchurch) and eight, daughters, Mesdames McEwan (Stockton), Forbes (Scotland), Mrs C’air and Mrs Clarke (Christchurch), Mrs Colligan (Waimangaroa), Mrs Caldwell (Wellington). Mrs Gray (Westport) and Miss Iris Parker (Wellington) and 40 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. An old and highly respectea excitizen of Westport, Mr John Delaney, died at Wellington on Monday at the age of 91 years. The late Mr Delaney was a native of Kilmiley, Kerry, Eire, and came to New Zealand in the ship “Conflict.” His first years in the Dominion were spent, in Wanganui and Wellington, and later he came to the Coast. For many years he resided at Charleston and Westport, and left to reside at Wellington 20 years ago.. He enjoyed perfect health until a few days before his death. He celebrated his '•9lst. birthday on Saturday last. His wife predeceased him last year and he is survived bv four sons. Messrs P. Delaney (Hastings), M. Delaney (Westport) and G. and T. Delaney (Wellington), and two daughters, Mesdames O’Connell and Goldfinch (Wellington). National Savings deposits in the Buller district last week amounted to £945, the district quota being £358. Investments at the various offices in the district, were: Westport £297 (quota £265), Granity-Millerton £242 (£5l), Denniston £6 (£29), Karamea £4OO (£l3).
