Each factory had been damaged before by incendiary; or high explosive raids, but none had been completely knocked out. The bombing was made visually ove’r most targets, but some were obscured by clouds. It was the tenth major assault against Japan this month by the 21st Bomber Command, bringing their bomb total to 26,500 tons, thus exceeding the May record of 24,650 tons. Over 4000 Superfortresses have been used against Japan this month.
