FACILITIES FOR INDUSTRY

To assemble information about the facilities offered in each town in New Zealand for the establishment of industries, is the purpose of a questionnaire now being distributed to local authorities by the Organisation for National Development. The questionnaire covers such matters as would normally have to be considered by a firm when deciding the location of a new factory. Knowledge of these points in relation to each town will assist the Organization’s investigations into methods or promoting a better distribution . ot manufacturing industries. Questions relate to available labour, transport facilities, raw materials, annual rates, cost of industrial sections, power, housing, unused plant and machinery and public amenities. Regional Planning Councils, where formed, • will conduct the survey as outlined in the questionnaire. Elsewhere, until these Councils are set up to supervise this survey, the City or Borough authorities are being asked to begin preliminary investigation and to furnish available information.
