LAND SALES

DENIAL THAT SOLDIERS ARE FAVOURED.

P.A. WESTPORT, March 20. The Chairman of the Nelson Land Sales Committee, Mr. P. Boys, stated at a public hearing in Westport today that it seemed as if a false impression were gaining currency in the public mind that the Committees were more rigorous in assessing the basic values of residential properties in the cases where the purchaser 1 is a soldier as against Lite ordinary' civilian buyer. In the result, he said it seemed that it was becoming a widespread attitude on the part of ven-' dors not to deal with soldiers. He desired to bring it before the notice of the public that there was no differential standards of value, and there were no extaneous considerations relating to purchases which guide an assessment of value. .
