Because of a housing shortage, Mrs. Bernice Wood was allowed to spend a fortnight with her husband in the death cell in the gaol at Hattiesburg, in Mississippi. She had gone to Hattiesburg for a final reunion with her husband, Donald Wood, aged 24 years, before he was hanged for the murder of the owner of a laundry.
