WATAROA NOTES
(Our Own Correspondent] Messrs McDermott (Truman’s Ltd.) and Jack Shrives (Tymons and Co.) were visitors here last week. Mr Sandy Foot, who p.aid a brief visit to Wataroa, looks bright and cheerful. He has be.en engaged on essential work by W. D. Nolan and Sons at Okuru. Hon. C. F. Skinner, accompanied by Mrs Skinner, Miss Jean Tulley (stenographer). and Mr B. Coury (private secretary), paid a brief visit to Wataroa on Sunday. The Minister was Very much impressed • with the possibilities of South Westland. Large entries -.have been received for the Wataroa stock sale, to be held on Thursday, March 22. There is a large entry from Okuru. which are being driven up in large mobs, and are in excellent condition. No doubt they will be eagerly sought after by buyers from all over Westland. The new Catchment Board, which is shortly to be elected, will find ample scope in South Westland, where many of our rivers are flooding and cutting away quite a lot of good agricultural land. The prevention of ’his will assist in the production of but-ter-fat, and the raising of fat stock, for which South Westland is famous.
