N.Z. RED CROSS COMMISSIONER. —L—• P.A. GISBORNE, February, 16. When asked if he had any comment to make on Brigadier Falconer’s statement that a’ Red Cross Commissioner was necessary in the Middle East, Colonel A. S. Muir said to-day that, in the light of his extensive experience in the Middle East, during which time he was a member of the Welfare Committee lof the Second N.Z.E.F., which acted; in an advisory capacity to the National Patriotic Fund Board Commissioner, and had had ample opportunity; to become fully cognisant with the work of both Commissioners, he adhered to his contention that the duties of the National Patriotic Fund Board Commissioner and the Red Cross Commissioner could be carried out satisfactorily by one competent man. Colonel Muir said that he recollected .quite clearly Brigadier Falconer indicating tr. him, in the N.Z: Forces’ Club at Bare that the work of the National Patriotic Fund Board Commissioner did not keen him as fully employed as he desired <o be. “What has haused Brigadier Falconer to change his opinion, I cannot say, but that dpes not alter my opinion that one man could do both jobs,” he added. ’
