SYNTHETIC ELASTIC FOR CORSETS. To eke out existing supplies of precious elastic, the Standards Institute is forced to impose restrictions on industries using it. The amount of elastic in any one corset is fixed at a specific number of square inches. With less elastic for adjustment, it becomes more, vital than ever to insist on the exact Berlei designed for the particular variation of figure type. I'But the general scarcity sometimes induces the less patient to make-do with ‘near-fit.’ The wrong fitting can give satisfaction neither to the wearer nor the maker, and so Berlei deplores this practice. Anxious to solve the, difficulty, Berlei has sent an executive to America to investigate possibilities in synthetic elastic. They have high hopes of being able to restore Berlei’s prewar flexibility before long.— *
