Rev. Dr. G. Harrison, formerly of Hokitika, has been appointed by Bishop Lyons, as Inspector of Catholic schools in the diocese of Christchurch.

Rev. F'ather A. Gregory, who has been at Greymouth for the past 18 years, has been transferred to the Fairlie parish and will leave towards the end of next week, taking up his new duties next Saturday. Parishioners will farewell him bn Wednesday evening. Father Gregory’s successor at Greymouth will be Father J. McCarthy, of Addington.

Miss Colleen Gibson, who has been on the staff of the Regent Theatre, Greymouth, for the .past 13 months and who leaves next week to take up a position with the Rehabilitation Department, Greymouth, was farewelle r ] last evening by fellow members of the -Regent Theatre staff. On behalf of those present the manager, Mr W. R-. (Blennerhassett, .1 made a presentation and extended good wishes.

The death occurred suddenly at Greymouth yesterday of Mrs Alice Beatrice Currie, aged 61 years. Mrs Currie collapsed in Mawhera Quay yesterday afternoon and died shortly .afterwards. She was born at Christchurch, but had resided almost all her life at Birchfield. Karamea, coming to Greymouth about a month ago to live with her daughter, Mrs A. Inwood. Blaketown. She ' leaves three daughters, Mrs Inwood (Blaketown), Mrs W. Williams (Karamea) and Mrs J. R. Jennings (Kongahu), and four sons, John (Seddonville), Les (Market Cross), Eric Blenheim), and Clyde (Karoro); also two sisters. Mrs A. Hare (Christchurch) and Mrs W. Duncan (Karamea). The funeral will take place to-morrow at Karamea.
