PILOTLESS PLANE

SENSATIONAL FLIGHT IN U.S.A. (Rec. 7.20). CHICAGO, Nov. 22. The crew of a Flying Fortress bailed out over Marian, South Dakota, today, but the plane roared on, a veritable aerial “Flying Dutchman”, for live hours until it was reported to have crashed at Isabella, Minnesota, after a flight of 400 miles. The pilot said the crew bailed out when the engine failed and the plane went out of control. He set the automatic pilot, however, to carry the plane to Chicago. People rushed inside when warned by radio of the pilotless plane. Hundreds of reports placed it at a dozen different places at the one time. Forest Rangers saw the plane crash in dense woods at Isabella, 500 miles from Chicago.
