[Our Own Correspondent]. HOKITIKA, Nov. 23. The Gael is due to-morrow from Wellington and will sail for southern ports at the end of the week. Captain Watson signed off the Gael at Wellington and Captain Anderson signed on as Master. The West Coast Fire (Brigades Demonstratiin will take place at Hokitika on Saturday with visiting teams from all parts of the district. The local brigade has made complete arrangements. To-morrow evenino- the visitors will be tendered’ a ball "and on Saturday evening a banquet will be held and prizes presented. The local team comprises Foremen H. Thompson, M. Davidson and Firemen J. Butland, J. Pickerin" and J Henderson. The weather here has been cold .and wet for the past three days, but rain ceased to-day, though a cold southerlv continued. , At the recent sitting of the Magistrate’s Court at Wataroa, Mr A. A. McLachlan, S.M'., fined F. H. A. tieveldt, licensee of the Okarito Forks Hotel £lO for supplying liquor after hours, and £1 for supplying persons under the age of 21. Five persons were lined £2 for being found on the premises. On a charge ot causing : damage to Public Works Department equipment amounting to £1 13s lOd, fines of £1 with costs 7s each were imposed on the following: Charles F. Foote, Jas A. O’Connor, Harold F. Thompson and Cecil H Thompson, while Joseph J. Cui tin was ordered to pay 7s costs and also I fined £1 with costs for failing to ■ produce his driving license, and conJ dieted of not having .a fitness war- ! rant, but a charge alleging a breach of oil fuel regulations was withdrawn. For using an unlicensed I trailer Roy Kirkham Arnold was ; fined ss. Bernard Charles Gibbs was fined 20s, Henry Dehn 5s and John William Bergman for allow n stock to wander at Wataroa. A boy a"ed 15 years was charged, admonished and’placed under supervision of the Welfare Officer.
