The Daily Mail says: Seventeen bodies have been recovered from a Dakota transport plane, which, when loaded with wounded soldiers from the Western F'ront, crashed on Saturday evening in a lonely part of soutnern England, and caught fire. two schoolboys witnessed the crash. One of the crew, who was badly injured, told the boys- to get’help. They ran two miles to the nearest police depot. Fire appliances and ambulances then raced to the scene, but by the time that they arrived the plane was a wreck. Six gravely wounded men from the plane were removed to hospital, but two of them have since died.’ The fate of the pilot, navigator and a nursing sister who. were aboard is not ypt known.
