U-BOATS’ AIR INTAKE
“New Lease of Life’’ j (Rec. 11.15.) LONDON, Nov. 9. - The U-boats are now being equipped with an extendable air intake. This enables them to re-charge theii? batteries and to ventilate the vessels without their coming to the surface. This was revealed by the Senior R.A.F. Coastal Command Staff Officer, Air- Vice-Marshal A. B. Elwood, when sneaking in London. He added: “This, and other improvements have given- the 'U-boat a new lease of life.”
