EXTRA BUS SOUGHT.

“Grey Valley Unionist” is apparently very exalted over the fact of Bourke’s Creek JJnion members being affiliated with the United Mine Workers—members of ours, too, are affiliated, but that does not appear to I please him so; much. Before concluding, I suggest to “Grey Valley Unionist” that if a man has lead a good, | clean industrial life he need never I fear signing his name beneath his letters. But if “Grey Valley Unionist” has anything to hide, thereby making it necessary to use a nome de plume, then my opinion is that “Rip Van Winkle” would be a more suitable one. I am, etc., ED. C. CHANDLER, Waiuta.

Sir.—I should like to lay a complaint in regard to the overcrowding of the New Zealand Road Service buses running between Greymouth, Taylorville and Dobson on Friday nights. Last F'riday night there were at least 45 passengers bn the Ta'llorville bus (which has seating accommodation for 28) not counting two or three who were put in the luggage carrier at the back, and probably had a better ride for being there. I believe, sir, that when the bus wa's run by private enterprise, they, were fined £l5 for over-loading; but apparently, being a Government concern, it can do as it likes and get away with it. The people of Taylorville pay their fare for comfort, not to be herded like a lot of cattle, and I think the least the road services could do would be to put an extra bus on on a Friday] night to take passengers home in reasonable comfort. Being an ex-road service driver myself I would not attach any blame to the driver, as he can only do his best, and I know what they have to put up with. But inspectors should see that no more of this sort of thing occurs. I am, etc., EX-ROAD SERVICE DRIVER, Taylorville.
