four Own Correspondent]. At; the monthly meeting of the Runanga School Committee, at which there were present Messrs F. Oakiey (chairman), C. Kennedy, W. Pauersen and J. Duggan (secretary)., Mesdames W. Wright and R. Barker, and Rev. W. S. Brettell, the headmaster, (Mr. Heath) reported that enquiries made in connection with the proposal to establish an infants’ school-kinder-garten showed that, as far as could be ascertained, there were about 40 pre-school age children in Dunollie and about 12 primer class children from Dunollie attending at Runanga School. The matter was held over. The headmaster reported that there was a roll of 229 and an attendance of 206. The grounds were improving with drier weather. Miss Romans and Mr. G. Webb, drill supervisors, had visited the school. It was decided to ask the Education Board for a continuance of the nursery service for the supply of trees and shrubs. The headmaster was authorised to procure supplies of sports equipment. The chairman reported that the recent children’s ball had again been a financial success and as a result tne school would benefit to the extent or ■E37 15s. Commenting on a letter from the National Council of Churches advocating a system of religious instructions in the schools, Mi.
