HITLER PLOT
SEVEN CIVILIANS SENTENCED. (Rec. 11.10) LONDON, Sept. 11. The German News Agency announced that the People’s Court has dealt with German civilians involved in the attempt against Hitler’s life on July 20. The accused, who were all sentenced to death by hanging, were: Karl Goerdeler, former Mayor of Leipzig, Count von Helldorf, former chief of the Berlin police, Wilhelm Leuschner, former Hessian Minister of the Interior, Josef Wuermer, lawyer, Ulrich von Hassel, former Ambassador at Rome, Paul Le J'eunojung, diplomat, Trott Zusolz, of the German Foreign Office. The News Agency stated that Goerdeler was intended for the post of Chancellor of the Reich had the plot succeeded'. Leuschner was to have been ViceChancellor and von Hassel, Foreign Minister and Minister of National Economy.
