MURDER CHARGE

AGAINST AIRMAN CHRISTCHURCH SHOOTING CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 11 Following the death of Edgar WilHams from gunshot wounds yesterday, the police, this morning arrested the dead man’s 1 son-in-law, Corporal Roy Kitchener Kennedy, 29, of the R.N.Z.A.F. When he went tms morning to a hut on his property, about half a mile beyond Rollestou, the owner found Kennedy asleep, and notified the police. Two parties of detectives went to the scene and arrested Kennedy. LATER Roy Kitchener Kennedy, who was arrested at Rolleston at 10.45 a.m. today, was charged before Mr. A. A. McLachlan, S.M. with the murder of Edgar Williams, step father of Kennedy’s wife. Detective Sergeant A. A. Henon said that a good deal of . inquiry would be necessary. Mr. C. S. Thomas, counsel for the accused, consented to a remand to October 2. The Kennedy’s have three young children.
