N.Z.-BRITISH TRADE PROPOSALS,

P.A. WELLINGTON, August 18. A tribute to the gerierous actidh of Great Britain in the recently-an-nounced trade proposals with New Zealand was paid at h meeting of the Wellington'Chamber of Commerce by the President (Mr. Frank Wilson) who emphasised that. this, country's response to Britain’s needs must be wholehearted. The total of the announced price increases, he said, was £32,500,000. As ih the past and through long years of war our future welfare and destiny continued to be most closely linked up with Britain, arid it was essential that the response should be wholehearted. A most help'ful contribution to this end would be a substantial increment to the Dominion’s London funds as a result of these adjustments, arid an additional return oh hew contracts for primary produce, thereby assisting ih the financing of much needed and essential import items.
