Racing Notes
Unlucky: ; War Guard was handy to Hillcrest and Kewpies’ Jewel as they made the home turn in the August Handicap, but he lost ground just as they entered the straight, and then finished on to get within a neck of the winner. Starting again in Takanini Handicap run .over a mile and a quarter, he was in the thick of the fight all the way. but he had no chance with Volo Senwood over the final furlong, again having to be content with second place. War Guard appears to be back to his best, and should be an early winner. Failed:
There was solid support of Bowmore in his latest start, but he failed to come over the last quarter. The son of Kinnoull has not done much racing, and • he seemed to be all a 1 sea' in the big field. In his previous efforts he has always raced on the outside. No doubt this suits him, as he is a long striding gelding who appreciates room in which to work
