APPLICATIONS are invited from " young women desirous of entering upon a professional career in work of national importance for appo ntment as STUDENT DENTAL NURSES in the Department of Health. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must be over the age of 17 years, possess good health (including wellcared for natural teeth), and have reached a standard of education not lower than School Certificate. Applicants who expect to qualify for this or for Univers'ty Entrance at the end of the current year should make this clear when applying, and should forward the results as soon as they are available. The work is particularly attractive to those who are interested in children. Successful appl’cants will be required to enter into an agreement to serve for a minimum of five years from date of appointment. TRAINING: The course of training occupies two years, and is undertaken at the Domin’on Training School lor Dental Nurses, Wellington, a modern institution equipped with complete facilities for both theoretical and practical instruction. Student dental nurses are accommodated at hostels associated with the Training School, and due care is given to their health and welfare. SALARY: (a) Student dental nurses receive £75 p.a. while train'ng, and those whose home is not in Wellington receive in addition a lodging allowance of £4O p.a. (b) On completion of training, the commencing salary for .a school dental nurse is £195 p.a. increasing over a period of seven years to £250 p.a. Further promotion to positions as Dental Tutor Sisters and Dental Nurse Inspectors is available to nurses of suitable experience and ability. In addition to salaries quoted above, a cost of living allowance of £26 p.a. is payable to both student and trained school Dental Nurses.
