Miss N.’ Comerford has commenced duties as Postmistress at Cronadun.
Miss I. Fox wino was relieving Postmistress at Cronadun for the past two months, has returned to Westport. Mrs. Jas. Mitchell, who has been a patient at the Reefton Hospital, has returned home.
Miss M. Knight, after spending a holiday with relatives in the district, has returned to Westport. Mr. Dan Twomey of Martinborough is at present visiting his sister, Mrs. Smith of Cronadun. Mr. O. McMahon has returned from Palmerston North.
A gang of railway signalmen are stationed at Cronadun at present and ar e engaged on the installation of the electric signal system on the ReeftonInangahua section of the line.
Owing to the travel restrictions, local racing enthusiasts had to be content with listening in to the Riccarton races on Saturday. The Patriotic Committee is holding a grand auction fair in the local hail to-morrow evening. As a result of a canvas of the district a large variety of goods and produce will be offered, and it is hoped that a fairly substantial sum will be raised for patriotic funds. A dance will be held aftei’ the sale. The music will ne supplied by Mrs. Nicholls. Supper will be provided.
