The Chinese Hish Command announced that Chinese forces, captured a most important strongpoint in the town of Tengchung, in western Yunnan, which the Japanese had partially evacuated, because of heavy monsoon rains. The strongpoint dominates Japanese positions in defences of Tengchung. The town is one "of the bulwarks against the Chinese drive to northern Burma.
