SAME AS AUSTRALIA'S

SENATOR KEANE’S IMPRESSIONS. (Rec. 11.40) CANBERRA, July 4. Senator Kea'ne, Australian Minister of Customs, who has returned from New Zealand, said to-night that during his visit to the Dominion he was struck b v an extraordinary similarity of New Zealand’s problems to those of Australia. The similarity extended to all sections of the wa'r effort. There was need of more housing. There was the same shortage of manpower and .of basic materials as in Australia. Senator Keane said he was particularly impressed with New Zealand’s housing scheme, which was the best in Australasia.

He also commented on there being a complete absence of liquor abuses in New Zealand. A report on Senator Keane’s visit will be presented to the Cabinet.
