(Our Own Correspondent; The engagement is announced of Flight-Sergeant Eric Harris, R.N.Z. A F only son of Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Harris, Waiuta, to Camille Lewis A.TC., youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Lewis, 90 Claude Road, Roath Park, Cardiff. Flight-Sergeant Harris is at present serving in England. Mr. J. Fisher, Christchurch, is spending a holiddy here as the guest of Mr. and Mrs. J. Thomas. Pvt. F Herring, recently invalided from the Middle East, is spending a few days here as the guest of Mr. and Mrs. L. Harvey.

Dvr. P. McGuinness and Pvt. K. McMahon, and Gnr. H. Lines, who have returned from the Pacific, ay6 visiting here.

Mrs. J. Harrington, Runanga, and Mrs. Jo e Smith, Reefton, were visitors during the week as the guests of Mrs. P. Connors. L.A.C. Lewis, R.N.Z.A.F., has returned to his station

L.A.C. P. Griffen, R.N.Z.A.F., and Mrs. Griffen, have been spending a few davs here as the guests of Mrs. F. Jean.

Mrs. A. Stephens, who has been indisposed for the past two weeks, is making good progress.

Mr. W. G. Harris has been appointed to the staff of t>h e Blackwater Mines as shift-boss, replacing Mr. M. Jones, who had to give up the position owing to ill-health. Mrs. L. Griffen, who has been indisposed for the past few weeks, is now recovered. s
