FREE EXCHANGE OF INFORMATION.
OPERATION OF WORLD SECURITY ORGANISATION.
(Rec. 8.40.) NEW YORK, June 21. Mr. Adolf Berle, Assistant-Secretary of State, at a foreign press dinner, said: “The free exchange of information among the nations after the wan is a major necessity for the successful operation of the world security- organisation to which Britain, America, Russia and China have committed themselves.” Mr Berle added that misrepresentations and plain lies may be started under a system of free press, but they are not apt to last long. On the other hand, where there was free access to news and freedom of transmission, the truth must eventually emerge, and with freedom of information, there was always the possibil.ty of understanding among peoples.
