FRANCO GOVERNMENT
OVERTHROW ADVOCATED IN U.S. CONGRESS.. (Rec. 8.30.) WASHINGTON, June 19 A resolution recommending that tne United States sever diplomatic relations with Spain, and extend aid to 'the Spanish guerilla armies, permitting them to overthrow the Franco regime, was pronosed in t'he House by Representative Coffee. The resolution added that Italian and German troops had aided General Franco to gain control of Spain, the Government of which was now furnishing supplies and troops to Germany. Representative Coffee contended that the Spanish Falange had engineered the overthrow of the Bolivian Government, and carried out propaganda in South America, opposing the United States’ good neighbour policy. “Now that we have invaded France, General Franco’s day of judgment is near,” he said. “His crimes against the Spanish neonle, against the people of the United States, and against the world’s democracies have not been forgotten.” ’ ’
