Mr. P. J. Twomey, the organiser of aid for the Makogai Leper Station, arrived from Christchurch on Saturday.

The funeral of Mr. William Henry Hannam took place yesterday afternoon at Karoro Cemetery. Rev. E. O. Harding of Runanga, conducted the service at the residence and at the graveside.

The death occurred at Greymouth yesterday of Mrs. Florence Williams, of Shakespeare Street. Deceased, who was born at Woodlands, sixty years ago, had been in ill health for some time. She came to Greymouth four years ago from Invercargill, where her husband, Ernest Charles Williams, predeceased her five years ago. She- is survived by five daughters, Mesdames W. Coom (Cobden), R. Fletcher (Dunollie), J. Thompson (Christchurch), H. Themlon, A. McNaught (Invercargill) and four sons, Arthur (Invercargill). Norman and Reginald (Greymouth) and Stanley (N.Z.E.F., overseas). The funeral will take place at Invercargill.

Recently invalided home from the Middle East, where he saw service for four years, Private E. Dale was ■tendered a welcome home at the Woodstock Hall on Friday evening by the residents of Rimu and Woodstock. There was a large assemblage of people from the district also a good number of visitors from Hokitika. Mr. W. Willoughby, the chairman, welcomed back Private Dale and congratulated him on his service, and wished him all success in the future. Also on the platform was Gunner D. Agnew, who was welcomed on his return some time ago. Both soldiers were the recipients of presentations from the Rimu-Woodstock Welcome-home Committee, and before their replies, were given an ovation tv the assemblage. The evening was spent in dancing, interspersed with which there were a number of musical items given bv Messrs T. Hatch, W. Muir and G. Stoop. r fhe music was supplied by Miss R. Jacobs’ Dance Band and Mr. C. Howat was M.C. The ladies of the district provided an excellent sunner.
