Press Assn.l (Rec 11.20) NEW YORK, May 19. “A liquid approximately equivalent to one hundred proof whisky may hold the post-war key to economies in the operation of , aeroplanes, trucks and motor cars, ’ savs the “Wall Street Journal.’ . A hint of what is ahead is seen in references to water injection as a special booster in American fighters. Actually the injection referred to is .a mixture of alcohol and water. A truck engine in one special test showed the water-alcohol injector would save 277 dollars a year on. 40,000 miles’ running. Another test showed a car owner would save 50 dollars on 10,000 miles yearly. During one test the demonstrator produced a bottle of whisky gave assembled experts a- ni.p. and used the remainder to prove that 'a small quantity of whisky made low grade petrol -perform equal to high octane and 'higher priced fuel. The injection device cons sts of tv. o small jets fitted into the carburettor with a' supplementary fuex tank.
