The death of Patriarch Senffius, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, at the age of 76 years, has been an nounced from Moscow.

Mrs Jessie Watt, of Napier who was born in Glasgow in 1842, cele brated her 102nd birthday on Mon day. She came to New Zealand at the age of 21 years.

Mr T. Nuttall, deputy chairman of the Christchurch Manpower Appeal Committee, became ill while on ms way to Westport on Tuesday ana returned to Christchurch on tne evening rail-car. The sitting of the committee which was to have been held at Westport in the evening w.as adjourned until a later date.
