Whitford (six nominations —none sitting members). Mrs Zella Harrison is a trained nurse and one of those responsible for organising the local V.A.D. and Home Nursing section. Mr Hunt is a former Magistrate of Auckland city, recently retired, who has come to Hokitika to live with his daughter, Mrs C. Biggs. One sitting member, Mr D. F. E. Freitas has gone to Greymouth. B. Spiers). RECORD CHRISTCHURCH, ENTRY. P.A. CHRISTCHURCH, May 15. Forty-six candidatese, a record number, will contest the City Council’s sixteen seats at the municipal elections. The previous largest number. forty-four, were nominated in 1935. In 1941 there were thirty-three candidates. There are twcr for the Mayoralty, those of the sitting Mayor, Mr. E. H.
