N.Z. MEAT RATIONS

Mince and Other Items REMOVED FROM COUPON-FREE LIST.

.P.A. WELLINGTON, May 12. ' In order to maintain our exports of meat to Britain at the highest possible figure, the War Cabinet has given consideration to certain alterations in the schedule of coupon-free meats, stated the Minister of Supply (Hon. D. G. Sullivan). He added: “When meat rationing was introduced, minced meat was included in the couponfree list. Unfortunately, this, concession has led to cut meat, which is not normally converted into minced meat, being widely utilised for this purpose, and sales of the minced meat have increased to such an extent that it has become necessary to remove this item from the coupon-free list. In addition, such items as thin flanks, ox skirts, mutton flaps, mutton skirts, trimmings, and shin meat are to be no longer coupon-free. The new arrangement will operate from Monday next.
