Cambridge Meeting VOTING RIGHTSAND RATING QUESTIONS. PA CAMBRIDGE, May 12. A meeting of 250 district farmers was held here to-day, as a culmination to various district meetings. Lt passed various resolutions Resolution one was passed, strongly supporting a Farmers’ Federation. The meeting deplored that the Government, allegedly, had been introducing contentious legislation, contrary to a promise, when so many men were overseas, it being considered that the Local Elections and Polls Amendment Act was an unwarranted attack on land owners. The meeting viewed seriously any interference with country quota in favour of country areas in Parliamentary elections. It was considered that hospital costs should be borne by the whole community, the opinion being expressed that Coijnty rates should oe established as at December, 1942. Fifty per cent, of those present at the meeting declared thev had not yei got a 1943-44 quota of fertiliser, and resolutions were carried that the Minister of Agriculture be asked to release immediately all of the supeiphosphate there is in stock, and aiso that farmers shall have the right to order either straight superphosphate or serpentine superphosphate. It was decided to set up district committees, with a central district executive for the purpose of organising all farmers to become members ot bodies in their respective industries.
